A flock of activities to enjoy at the Birdfair

By Caroline King - August 8, 2010Posted in : Fair

When: 20th – 22nd August 2010, 9 am–5.30 pm

Where: Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre, Egleton Nature Reserve, Rutland Water

£: 10 (children free, RSPB and Wildlife Trust members on Sunday only)

What is it?

Each day of the fair is packed with events including lectures, workshops, fun activities for children, live music and country crafts.

RSPB Wildlife Explorers hosts family activities all day including, minibeast safaris and pond dipping sessions (book early to avoid disappointment), art and craft workshops, a treasure hunt competition and the lucky lolly game.

The Leicestershire and Rutland Badger Group will also host a variety of activities for children such as puzzle sheets and opportunities for children to make their own badger masks, and badges. Or how about watching wildlife artists from around the world create a giant mural which will depict the endemic, near-endemic and threatened birds of Ethiopia?

Plus once you’ve paid for your entrance pass to the Birdfair you will have access to the Rutland Water Nature Reserve on the day of your ticket.  As well as indulging in your passion for wildlife, you’ll be helping their adopted BirdLife International conservation project for the year.
