If you love walking and food then go alonga to the Magnalonga

By Caroline King - July 10, 2010Posted in : Food & Drink, Walks

When: 8th August 2010

Where: Ludlow, Shropshire

£: 19.95 (children 15.95), including food and drink.  Tickets must be bought in advance.

What is it?

The Ludlow Magnalonga is a fabulous country walk with food and drink stops along the way.  The idea is based on a similar event organised by the wine-maker in Ludlow’s twin town of San Pietro in Cariano, near Verona in Italy.  Each year a 7-8 mile walk takes place around Ludlow intended for families, couples and individuals who want to get outside, enjoy the country and experience the food in the place it was produced.  The walk is different each year and planned out with local producers and farms to take participants down footpaths, tracks, across fields and quiet lanes through unspoilt countryside with fine views all around.  Whilst walking you can see some spectacular views and traverse some quiet paths and lanes on the Shropshire-Herefordshire border.

During the journey you will make several stops for refreshment, at each of which you will partake in a course of  locally produced food.  The whole premise is to eat the food in the environment it was produced.  At each stop the food will be washed down with drinks such as local real ale, traditional local perry or cider.  You will also receive bottled water, so you won’t go thirsty!
