What is it?
The World Pooh Sticks Championships will be held on the River Thames at Days Lock, Little Wittenham. The championships started when the Lock Keeper noticed walkers recreating Pooh’s pastime on the river and thought this would be an excellent way of raising money for his favourite charity, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. These days people come from as far afield as the USA, Japan and Australia.
The heats and finals will be held to determine the Individual World Champion and the Team World Champions. Team events will begin at 11.00 am and the Individual events start at 12.00 pm with the last entry at 1.30 pm. This is an event for people of all ages to enjoy and is in aid of the RNLI, Little Wittenham Church and local charities supported by the Rotary Club of Oxford Spires as well as Rotary’s Polio Plus scheme.
