What is it?

You are invited to meet 93-year-old Dame Vera Lynn, ‘the Forces’ Sweetheart’. She will make a rare appearance to promote two publications of poems and short stories, dedicated to and written by current and former Service men and women as well as their friends and families.

The Forces Literary Organisation Worldwide (FLOW for All) have published two new books, Poems of the Poppies and Stories of the Poppies, which offer a voice to the Afghanistan generation of our Armed Forces, and all those affected by war and conflict. These books feature the winning entries of the 2009 FLOW for All poetry and short story competitions. The proceeds from the sale of the two books will be used to support the work of not-for-profit organisation FLOW for All.

The event will comprise of a book signing and poetry reading, as well as short talks from Mac Macdonald (co-founder of FLOW for All) and Major-General Tim Cross, who retired from the British Army in 2006 after seeing operational service in Northern Ireland, Cyprus, the Balkans and Iraq.
